Thanks Billy! I actually had a birthday recently too, and I received the DSW gift cert. I got the Baskin-Robbins freebie too, but as usual, it was WAY too cold for ice cream. I’m definitely going to sign up for the Old Navy and Aveeda freebie.

You've got a pretty comprehensive guide here but one thing I would add to following your list is to write your list logically. However much of a pain it might seem, it'll become second nature eventually. Write your list in a way that minimises the time you spend wandering around the shop. That way, you're lessening the risk of those double-chocolate chip muffins sneaking their way into your basket. Also, you say don't bulk buy produce and I do see the sense there but I would caution people not to rely solely upon online guides when it comes to bulk buying. I bulk buy eggs because I get through a LOT and it saves me quite a bit. But most guides tell you not to. Also, remember that supermarket psychology is just as applicable in a wholesale outlet, sometimes more so. They're still businesses and they still need to make a profit.

It is always good to save money and even better when you can save the environment at the same time. Another useful tip which works for me is bartering. I never understood why people throw away stuff which is in quite good condition just because it’s useless for them. Instead of that they can get rid of their stuff by bartering it on sites like barterquest.com and get something in return. That’s what I’m doing to save money and the environment. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, right?

I’m not so sure about sports equipment – would you really trust something that somebody else didn’t want to use anymore? There could well be a hidden fault.
